In the 70's the shed was sold to the Nunes family who sold local apples here. Open seasonally until
the late 1970's, the building then reverted to ownership by the railroad.
The transformation from a decaying bit of Tehachapi history to today's Apple Shed restaurant, bakery,
fudge factory and gift emporium began in 1995 when the building was purchased by local residents.
A year later, it opened for business and a new chapter in the life of the old building began.
After ten years of continued development, new owners took over in August, 2005.
TODAY'S APPLE SHED
Although it changed ownership in 2005, the Apple Shed continues its tradition of excellent service,
magnificent food and unique gifts. Our vision is to maintain our loyal service to the community where
families can share and enjoy meals in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.
Vistors will get a glimpse of our town's warm and welcoming spirit! Being centrally located, the Apple
Shed also serves as a visitor information and referral center for orchards, farms, retail stores, and
other local attractions in the greater Tehachapi area.
OUR RESTAURANT, FUDGE FACTORY, BAKERY AND GIFT STORE
FUDGE FACTORY
The fudge is made in house and several unique kinds are available. You will want to stop by and
sample a piece or two on the house.
GIFT STORE
Our unique gifts, art works, hand crafts and Apple Shed items will be the perfect souveneir or gift
for that special friend or loved one. We also have gourmet foods including jams, jellies, salad
dressings and, of course, apple butter. All these gifts can be arranged in gift baskets too.We have many books of local interest and many by local authors.
BAKERY
Our bakery's selection of scrumptious fresh-baked goodies will be the perfect desert to take home.
Needless to say, our specialty is apple pie followed closely by our peach and pecan pies.During our apple season, you can enjoy famous Tehachapi apples which are available for sale.
THE RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE
Our restaurant is more than a dining room. It's a popular place for banquets, parties, meetings,
dances and receptions, too. Local musicians, artists, and authors are also featured, helping to
promote art and culture in the community.
THE SOUNDS OF THE TRAIN PASSING BY
What an experience! The railroad is alive and well and only a few feet away. Few people will leave
the Apple Shed without seeing a train rumble by which excites all adults and children alike. Enjoy
watching the train on the deck while sipping a latte or hot tea.
